FROM BACKWOODS MOON SHINER TO BEING NAMED
SPORTS ILLUSTRATED'S BEST DRIVER OF ALL TIME IN 1998,
JUNIORS STORY IS A HISTORY OF NASCAR, AN AMERICAN CULTURE, RARELY TOLD.

johnso5.jpg (37125 bytes)The front of the NC Auto Racing Hall of Fame looked like a scene from the movie "Last American Hero" which starred Jeff Bridges and was based on the life of moon shiner turned stock car driver, Junior Johnson.

The display included one of Junior's old stock cars and a black 1940 Ford Coupe that represents how Junior got his start in racing...by "dodging the Fed's" in this souped up classic.  The display also included an actual working moonshine still.

Junior Johnson was joined at the hall of Fame by Tom Higgins and
Steve Waid, co-authors of the sensational new auto racing best seller "Brave In Life" for a book signing. This excellent new book, published by David Bull Publishing, chronicles the life and times of Junior Johnson and his stellar career in NASCAR Auto Racing.

1963 Chevrolet race car, as well as several vehicles prepared by Junior Johnson's team from seasons past.

"We feel privileged to have Junior at the hall of Fame for this festive
occasion", said Hall of Fame Manager, Donna DeNardo. "We are going all out to make this a memorable event for all of the racing fans and media personalities we are expecting at the Hall of Fame"

The North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame is located at:

Books will be on sale and special museum admission prices will be
